Dr. Martha L. Lumley
My Why
A full life doesn’t mean that your calendar is full. A fulfilling life doesn’t mean that you have achieved it all, that you’ve checked all the boxes society tells us are important.
Instead, I believe a fulfilled life is one that is true to ourselves and helps us live into our unique purpose. This doesn’t mean that there is one path for you to be on that is linear and ticks all the boxes. It means you do the next right thing for you in each moment. The thing that lights you up and makes you feel like your unique self.
Your unique purpose includes your place in relationships and community, your hobbies and activities, and also your career.
After eight years as an accounting and business professor, including four years as an associate dean, I knew I needed to follow my inner compass to something different. My favorite part of teaching was always the time spent with advisees and other students outside of the classroom discussing their talents, passions, and desires. I believe that your true path lies at the intersection of these three ingredients. I find my own fulfillment in helping people discover and navigate this path.
Your true purpose lies within you, and it is my honor to work with you to discover it.
My Education
I have completed Martha Beck’s Wayfinder Life Coach Training program and upon obtaining the requisite hours will apply for the Associate Certified Coach credential through the International Coaching Federation.
My formal education includes a Doctor of Business Administration from Creighton University, a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Management major from the University of Evansville.
My Life
I enjoy traveling, singing, experiencing live music, listening to podcasts, reading, coloring, crafting, and watching crime/legal dramas. I have a history-loving partner with whom I enjoy playing dominoes and board games, antiquing, and cooking (and eating!) elevated simple food. We have a ginger cat and a yellow dog and have recently relocated to South Texas where the cardinals and wildflowers are abundant.
